Dr. Bogale Tadesse is a Senior Lecturer in Metallurgical Engineering at Curtin University. He completed his PhD (2013) at the University of South Australia. Tadesse's research focus is mainly ore characterization, comminution, and mineral processing including flotation, gravity separation, particle sorting and the application of electrochemistry in extractive metallurgy. He uses mineralogical assessment to improve the recovery of lithium, iron ore and rare-earth bearing minerals. He investigates rock breakage mechanisms to understand energy dissipation during crushing and grinding to reduce comminution energy consumption. He has a keen interest in coarse gangue rejection, which aims to separate unwanted gangue as early as possible, to save energy and money by reducing material handling during processing.
