Joyce Siong is a PhD candidate at the Julius Kruttschnitt Minerals Research Centre (JKMRC) of Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI), The University of Queensland. She has a background in Chemical and Materials Engineering where she gained her interest in process control and minerals processing. Joyce then commenced her PhD in early 2019 where she is interested in the development of a model-informed process control strategy for coal flotation in a Jameson Cell. She looks at investigating different soft-sensors that can be used to measure the froth behaviour that can be implemented into the control system. She is also investigating and understanding the effect of different operating conditions on coal flotation performance of an industrial-scaled Jameson Cell.
