Dr. Brad Ross is an Advocate for creating an International Mining Institute dedicated to increasing the number of qualified professionals in the mining industry through world-class professional development courses and certifications.  This industry-driven institute would use industry experts from a wide variety of fields to increase the skills and capabilities of the current workforce and attract new professionals into the field.

Brad founded the Geotechnical Center of Excellence six years ago at the University of Arizona.  This Center is dedicated to creating multi-disciplinary research and high-quality professional development geotechnical courses related to the mining industry.  He was also a Professor of Practice in the University's Mining and Geological Engineering Department.

Brad is a Professional Mining Engineer with over 35 years of industry experience.  During his career, he held a wide variety of positions, many focused on solving difficult problems by building high-performance teams and organizations. For his last industry position, he was brought into the Bingham Canyon Mine in 2013 to help the mine prepare for and recover from the largest open pit landslide in mining history.  He authored a book about that experience called “Rise to the Occasion – Lessons From the Bingham Canyon Manefay Slide.”
